November 17, 2006 the profits of “Mobile Banking” System of Halyk Bank, Kazakhstan, exceeded the amount of 1 mln US dollars. Such levels were reached over a short period of time, 18 months since the launch of the “Mobile Banking” project. Since the introduction of remote bank transactions for individuals in Kazakhstan, this project has been the most successful among all the banks both in the number of users and in its financial results.

The system of bank account management using a mobile phone is unique for Kazakhstan. The project “Mobile Banking – Verified by VISA” was launched by Halyk Bank on April 19, 2005 within VISA CEMEA EFT. Easy subscription and possibilities of the service allowed to reach considerable levels by the end of 2005. The system exceeded the level of 1 mln SMS-messages on January 29, 2006. On September 14, 2006 the 100 000th anniversary client was registered in the system. It was a student from Aktjubinsk Temirkul Arman who received a mobile phone. According to November survey more than 117 thousand clients used the services of “Mobile Banking” system. Thus it may be called the most popular remote bank service in Kazakhstan.

Halyk Bank of Kazakhstan continues to raise the quality of its financial products based on the modern technologies. At present, together with mobile operators and outside partners works on the 3rd stage of service development which will be placement of bank applet at the phone SIM-card, which will allow the clients to make any payments (payments for mobile communications, utility payments, Internet shops, etc) and transfers (within a bank, between banks, card to card, etc) directly from mobile phone. The most important factor is the security of the payments which are confirmed by the digital signature of the client.

To enrol for “Mobile Banking” System it’s enough to register at any ATM or fill in an application form at any branch of Halyk Bank. At present, Kazakhstan with its population of 15.3 mln has over 4 mln bank cards in circulation with more than 2 mln of Halyk Bank cards.
